Starting at the Campingpark Kalletal, you cycle eastwards on this beautiful tour, past the "Ostenuther Kiesteiche", and cross the North Rhine-Westphalian state border towards Lower Saxony. The easy, short route takes you on a section of the Weser Cycle Path along the Doktorsee lake into the city of Rinteln. The historic old town with its market square in the centre is characterised by numerous half-timbered houses in the Weser Renaissance style. Here you can stroll around to your heart's content, go out to eat and enjoy the old town flair. We also have a small restaurant tip for you: the Restaurant Bodega, directly in the city centre. Alternatives and feedback Swimming alternatives: For public swimming, please use the known alternatives, such as the Kalletal outdoor swimming pool. Directly at the car park there is a hiking board with directions to the various circular hiking trails in the beautiful Kalletal. The small route near Varenholz Castle leads from our Kalletal camping park, past the Stemmer See lake, along the southern side of the Weser. The highlight of the tour is the Weser ferry Varenholz-Veltheim, which makes it possible to cross the Weser with the historic high-wire ferry on weekends and public holidays. There is room for up to ten people on the ferry. Ferry times from April to October: Saturday, Sunday and public holidays 10.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. On the other side of the Weser, the cycle tour continues in the flat countryside towards Veltheim. Here you will notice the free-standing Veltheim windmill from 1903, whose stone mill tower stands out against the surrounding fields and flowering meadows in summer.
