The municipality of Kalletal in the north-lippish mountain region, not far from the Weser river, is located in the north-east of North-Rhine Westphalia. The area, consisting of 16 districts, has a size of 112 square kilometres and is located approximately 10 kilometres away from the former district town Lemgo and 25 kilometres from the district town Detmold. In the north of the municipality, the Weser forms the municipal boundary to Vlotho and Porta Westfalica.
