The municipality of Kalletal in the north-lippish mountain region, not far from the Weser river, is located in the north-east of North-Rhine Westphalia. The area, consisting of 16 districts, has a size of 112 square kilometres and is located approximately 10 kilometres away from the former district town Lemgo and 25 kilometres from the district town Detmold. In the north of the municipality, the Weser forms the municipal boundary to Vlotho and Porta Westfalica. The unique flora and fauna of Kalletal, which is characterized by a landscape of hills, invites visitors to a wide range of explorations. The quiet landscape is a paradise for rare animal species. The Weser cycle path leads directly through the Kalletal passing museums, viewpoints, old courtyards and the castle of Varenholz.
