Rinteln is located in the Weser Hills in Lower Saxony near the border to North Rhine-Westphalia. Situated in a wide valley on both sides of the Weser river, the city shows its rich and diverse history. In the Middle Ages Rinteln was surrounded by a city wall, which offered protection and security to its inhabitants.
